Project ARCA is organized by Ruarts Foundation together with Moscow Museum of Modern Art and dedicated to the study of street and public art.

In July 2020, a new painting project "Knee Knock" by Moscow artist Nootk will appear in the archway of the MMOMA Educational Center (Yermolaevsky, 17).

The concept of the Nootk’s project «Knee Knock» is based on the specific features of the architecture of the building where it was to be implemented. Cold stone neoclassicism and its arches, framed by stylized massive bricks, reminded the author of the knightly era: "The gate in the arch is shaped like a heraldic shield – this idea was the basis for my sketch. We can say that it is the heraldic badge of a random passer in a metropolitan city».

Although Nootk is mainly famous for its bright coloured patterns, in summer he prefers a monochrome range - the work for the ARCA project is created in three colours: black, white and red.

The artist describes the plot image of "Knee Knock" in the following way: "And even if a cloud of smoke rises from the factory chimney, settling as an acid rain on the crown of the head of the knight, he still has a key to all the doors, and his bones are stronger than walls".

NOOTK (Vladimir Gupalov)

NOOTK was born in 1981 in Moscow. In 2005 he graduated from the Moscow State University of Geodesy and Cartography with a degree in architecture. Since 2011 Nootk works as an independent author of personal projects.
Nootk is a modern Russian artist who combines in his style the influence of street culture with the interest in illustration and cartoon aesthetics.
The artist's work is addressed to the chaotic and fantasy world of forms coming alive.
