Alexey Guintovt was born in 1965 in Moscow. In 1985, the artist graduated from the Moscow Architectural and Construction College. In 1985–1988, Guintovt studied at the Moscow Architectural Institute at the urban planning faculty. In 1988–1990, he was a member of the Free Academy (Moscow — Leningrad). In 1990–1994, Guintovt was a member of the Laboratory of Permafrost Group (together with Sergey Kuskov and Kirill Preobrazhenskiy). In 1992–1993, he was the artist of the interpretative art journal Place of the Press. He is a scholarship holder of the International Association of Art — AIAP (UNESCO), Paris (1996). In 1997, he was a member of the New Russian Classicism movement in St. Petersburg. Since 2000, the artist has been a member of the Front of Calm Welfare group together with Andrei Molodkin and Gleb Kosorukov. In 2008, Guintovt was awarded the Kandinsky Prize in the nomination Best Project of the Year for the exhibition Motherland-Daughter. In 2017, MMOMA held the solo exhibition Alexey Belyaev-Guintovt. X. The images of the artist contain references to both the avantgarde art and early Soviet architecture and to the grand style of the Soviet totalitarian era.
