Alexey Dushkin was born in 1964 in Moscow. The artist studied at the Moscow Architectural Institute. In the period from 2002 to 2007, he was the creator and the head of the Object Design Studio of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts. Dushkin is a laureate of the VICTORIA Russian National Prize in the design field (Central House of Artists, 2004). Awarded with the medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2005). He is a member of the Russian Union of Designers. In 2010, together with Alexandra Paperno, Dushkin participated in the Jilploshad/ Living Space exhibition at the Paperworks Gallery; also there, in 2012— in the Za chestnie vibori (For Fair Elections) group exhibition. He is a participant of the Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art (2009), the International Exhibition of Architecture and Design “ARCH Moscow” (2010), the 3rd Moscow Architecture Biennale (2012). The artist was awarded with the first prize of the Architecture and Design Festival House on Brest for three times (2004, 2010 and 2011). Dushkin is a participant in the parallel project of the 13th International Venice Biennale of Architecture — The Way of Enthusiasts group exhibition, supported by the V-A-C Foundation (2012). He is a member of the group exhibition Bolshaya Moskva. Versiya II (“Big Moscow. Version II) in the framework of the 2012 New Year’s project Moskva. Arhitektura budushchego, nastoyashchego, proshlogo (Moscow. Architecture of the future, present, past) of the Schusev State Museum of Architecture. In his work, Alexey Dushkin appeals to the traditions of Soviet constructivism and the German Bauhaus, which gave rise for the objects creation in an entirely new language, giving the opportunity to express relevant ideas and meanings in the bright and witty statements of contemporary art.
